Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to hire Hoof?
Our standard hire fee is £250.
This covers everything needed to bring Hoof to your event - from setup and staffing to travel and pack-down. We put care into every stage so you can relax and enjoy your occasion.
What is the minimum Spend?
Our minimum spend is £750.
To give you an idea, for an event hosting 50 guests, that works out at roughly £15 per person - or about a drink an hour during a four-hour celebration.
Can I pay for my guests?
Yes, of course. We offer three flexible payment options, all of which contribute to the minimum spend.
Guest Bar Guests simply pay as they go, using cash or card.
Subsidised Bar You pop an amount behind the bar for your guests to enjoy, and they can purchase any extras themselves.
Host Bar Feeling generous? You cover the full tab. We’ll ask for the minimum spend upfront and invoice you for the balance after the event
How much space do you need for the Hoof trailer?
We setup in an area measuring 4 x 5 metres, with a trailer height of 2.6 metres.
If your venue has any access limitations - like arched driveways or low entrances, it’s best to check ahead.
What methods of payment do you accept?
Cash and Card payment – wherever we are.
Will I be asked to pay a deposit?
Yes, on confirmation of your booking we will ask for the hire fee to secure the booking. This deposit is refundable up to 6 months prior to your event date.
With our Guest Bar package, we also ask for a refundable deposit of £350. This is returned when the minimum spend is reached.
How many guests can you serve?
Our setup is designed to serve around 100 guests, at a private event. For numbers higher than this, we have different serving options available. Please send us a message to discuss your needs.
Where do you travel to?
We travel to events within an hour of Hoof’s home in North Shropshire (SY12). This is included in the hire fee.
What about licensing?
We are a registered food business with Shropshire Council and have a Personal License holder serving the bar.
For event locations which don’t have a Premises license, we can help arrange a Temporary Event Notice with your local authority. Most authorities require a 14 to 21 day notice period.
What is your Food Hygiene rating?
Our food hygiene rating is 5. We scored Very Good in all three categories: Hygienic food handling, Management of food safety and Cleanliness and condition of facilities. You can read the report here.
How do you manage allergens?
We publish an Allergen matrix listing our products which contain allergens.
We aim to be as informative and accessible as we can with our menu - we stock a delicious gluten-free beer brewed in Powys!

What are your power requirements?
When mains power is available, then it’s great if we can hook up. Alternatively, we can also hire a generator. Our trailer was wired by a qualified electrician and supports either option.
The trailer uses a maximum of 1.5 Kilowatt hours (KWh). Over an event, consumption tends to average 900 watts per hour.
For those interested (like Adam). Apparently, 1 kilowatt is equivalent to 1.3 horsepower.
